Selvapiana is among the best-known and most respected of the two dozen growers in Chianti Rùfina—the smallest subzone of Chianti—a region that has been known for the quality of its wines since 1600! The property’s history dates to Medieval times, when it was a watchtower built to protect the city of Florence. The “modern” era started in 1827, when Selvapiana was acquired by Michele Giuntini, a successful banker and ancestor of Francesco Giuntini, the fifth generation to run the property from 1957 through to 1997.
